Customizing menus
You can choose the menu you want to use.
Displaying shortcut keys on menus can make accessing menu commands easier.
You can create custom menus that contain the commands and features you use most often.
You can add menu items, separators and drop-down menus to a custom menu or to one of the preset menus provided with WordPerfect. Separators are the horizontal lines between commands in a menu and are used to create a group of commands.
You can also remove menu items you no longer need.
You can rename or delete menus that you have created. You cannot rename or delete the preset menus provided with WordPerfect. You can restore the preset menus provided with WordPerfect.
Merging default menu commands into templates
When you open a template, WordPerfect checks whether the template is missing default menu commands. You can merge missing menu commands into a template.
The menu-checking feature is enabled by default, but you can disable it.
To choose a menu |

Click Tools Settings.

In the Customize settings dialog box, click the Menus tab.

Choose a menu from the Available menus list.

Click Select.

You can revert to the default menu by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Backspace.

To display shortcut keys on a menu |
1.

Click Tools Settings.
|

|
|
Click Environment.
|
3.
|
|
In the Environment settings dialog box, click the Interface tab.
|
4.
|
|
In the Items to display on menus area, enable the Shortcut keys check box.
|
To create a menu |
1.
|
|
Click Tools Settings.
|
2.
|
|
Click Customize.
|
3.
|
|
In the Customize settings dialog box, click the Menus tab.
|

|
|
Click Create.
|
5.
|
|
In the Create menu bar dialog box, type a name for the menu in the New menu bar name box.
|

|
Click OK.
|
The Menu editor dialog box opens, and the menu is displayed at the top of the document window.

Choose a category from the Feature categories list box.
|

|
Choose a feature from the Features list.
|
9.

|
Click Add menu item.

To add a menu item to a menu |

Click Tools Settings.

Click Customize.

In the Customize settings dialog box, click the Menus tab.

Choose a menu from the Available menus list.
|
The menu displays at the top of the document window.
|

Click Edit.

In the Menu editor dialog box, choose a category from the Feature categories list box.

Choose a feature from the Features list.
|

Click Add menu item.

You can also add a menu item by choosing a menu from the available menus list, and dragging it from the Features list box to the menu outside the Menu editor dialog box.

To add a separator to a menu |

In the Customize settings dialog box, click the Menus tab.

Choose a menu from the Available menus list.

The menu displays at the top of the document window.

Click Edit.

In the Menu editor dialog box, drag a separator from the Separator box to a menu on the menu bar.

To add a drop-down menu to a menu |

Choose a menu from the Available menus list.

The menu displays at the top of the document window.

To remove a menu item from a menu |

To rename a menu |

Click Rename.

In the Rename menu bar dialog box, type a new name in the Rename menu bar to box.

To delete a menu |

Choose a menu from the Available menus list.

Click Delete.

To restore a menu |
1.

Click Tools Settings.

Click Customize.

In the Customize settings dialog box, click the Menus tab.

Choose a menu from the Available menus list.
|
5.
|
|
Click Reset.
|

Only preset menus can be restored.

To merge default menu commands into a template |

Click Customize.
|

In the Customize settings dialog box, click the Menus tab.

Choose a menu from the Available menus list.

Click Merge.
|

In the Merge menu dialog box, disable the check boxes that correspond to any menu commands that you don’t want to merge into the template.

To disable the menu-checking feature |
