Changing the appearance of quotation marks
You can use SmartQuotes to change the appearance of double, single, and straight quotes in a document. For example, you can insert curly quotation marks into a document, instead of inserting the default straight quotation marks.
To add straight quotation marks |
1.

Click Tools QuickCorrect.
|
2.

|
Click the SmartQuotes tab.
|
3.
|
|
Enable the Use straight quotation marks after numbers – 6′ check box.
|
This inserts straight quotes, rather than curly quotes, when the quote character follows a number.

To change the appearance of double quotation marks |
1.
|
|
Click Tools QuickCorrect.
|
2.
|
|
Click the SmartQuotes tab.
|
3.
|
|
Enable the Use double quotation marks as you type check box.
|
4.
|
|
Choose an open quotation mark type from the Open list box.
|
If you’re working in a language that requires a space after an opening quotation mark, you can enable the Insert space after opening quotation mark check box.

Choose a closing quotation mark type from the Close list box.
|
If you’re working in a language that requires a space before a closing quotation mark, you can enable the Insert space before closing quotation mark check box.

Click Tools QuickCorrect.
|

|
Click the SmartQuotes tab.
|
3.
|
|
Enable the Use single quotation marks as you type check box.
|
4.

|
Choose an open quotation mark type from the Open list box.
|
If you’re working in a language that requires a space after

Choose a closing quotation mark type from the Close list box.
|
