Working with files and folders

WordPerfect Office file management dialog boxes let you work with files and folders. You can create folders for files. You can move, copy, and rename files and folders. You can also create shortcuts to folders and files you use often. You can search for files using WordPerfect Office file management dialog boxes, and you can change the file management box display.


To create a folder

Choose the drive or folder where you want to create the folder.

Click File WordPerfect Office onestep Working with files and folders New WordPerfect Office onestep Working with files and folders Folder.

Type a name for the folder, and press ENTER.

You can also create a folder by right-clicking the file list or folder list, and clicking New.

To move a file or folder

Choose a file or folder.
3.
 
Click Edit WordPerfect Office onestep Working with files and folders Move to folder.
4.
 
Choose the folder or drive to which you want to move the file.

To move multiple files or folders, press CTRL and click each file or folder. To choose a range of files or folders, click the file or folder at one end of the range, press SHIFT, and click the file or folder at the other end of the range.

To copy a file or folder

Choose a file or folder.

Choose the folder or drive to which you want to copy the file.

If you move or copy a folder, any subfolders or files it contains are also moved or copied.

You can also copy a file or folder by opening Windows Explorer and dragging the file or folder to another drive or folder.

To rename a file or folder

Choose a file or folder.

To change the properties of a file or folder

Choose a file or folder.

Modify the settings of the properties you want to change.

To find a file

Choose a drive or folder in which you want to search.
3.
 
Type the filename in the Filename box.
4.
 
Click Find now.

You can use wildcards, such as the question mark (?) and asterisk (*), to search for similar files. For example, searching for C:\FILES\OCT??.wpd results in a list of all .wpd filenames in the FILES folder on the C: drive that begin with OCT and are followed by any two characters. Searching for C:\FILES\*.wpd results in a list of all .wpd files in the FILES folder on the C: drive. You must specify a file extension or use a wildcard for the file extension.

You can narrow a file search by choosing a file type and by selecting the date on which the file was last modified.

To change the display of a file management dialog box
